The prophets were addressing Jews and not Christians, Israel and not the Church, a theocracy and not a democracy. Can we transfer their warnings, appeals and predictions, without any modification, to contemporary trends and events in Church and State? The answer depends on how we understand the relationship between the Old and New Testaments. This talk should help all who seek to make the messages of the three major and twelve minor prophets real and relevent in our day and age. Given at Swindon in March 2004.
